Harley-Davidson adds a new ‘Rod’ to its Street lineup

Share

Harley-Davidson has added a third model to its lineup of popular, affordable Street 750 and Street 500 motorcycles.

The Street Rod starts as a Street 750, but gets an upgraded engine, revised chassis and new styling for higher performance and a look the company calls “tough and aggressive.”

Powered by Harley’s single cam V-twin High Output Revolution X 750 engine, the new Rod will have 18% more horsepower and 8% more torque than the standard Street 750.

The liquid-cooled engine is supported by a larger airbox, a new throttle body, revised cylinder heads and a higher-volume muffler, the company said.

ABS is not standard on the Street Rod, but is available as a $750 option.

The Rod also has a shorter frame, for more precise turning, model-specific handlebars, footpegs and foot controls, and features styling borrowed from the company’s Dark Custom collection.

But it sits a little taller than the Street bikes — up 3.7 inches to a seat height of 29.4 inches.

Harley said the new bike will be available in Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim and Olive Gold. It will be priced from $8,699 in black and $8,994 in color — up from a base price of $7,549 for the Street 750 in black — and will be in dealerships this month.
