Viddy, the Los Angeles-based social network that has been described as the Instagram of videos, has released an Android version of its app.

For more than a year and a half, Viddy had been exclusive to Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch. On those devices alone, Viddy has amassed 42 million users.

Viddy now hopes to keep growing its user numbers by making its service available to mobile devices that run on Google’s Android operating system.

Viddy sets itself apart from others in the video market by limiting its shots to 15 seconds in length.

After shooting a video, users can add a soundtrack and change the look of the video, similar to the way Instagram users can enhance a photo. Available tunes include snippets by Ellie Goulding and Snoop Dogg.

The Viddy for Android app is available to download now from the Google Play store for free.
