Curiosity hopes to be Martian mayor, checks in on Foursquare
Curiosity is on an important mission ... to become the mayor of Mars.
The NASA rover checked in on Mars’ Gale Crater on Wednesday, using Foursquare, the location-based social network. And it posted a picture.
“One check-in closer to being Mayor of Mars!” Curiosity said with its check-in to the crater, which it has been exploring.
If Curiosity checks in enough times, it should accomplish its goal of becoming mayor fairly quickly. After all, there’s no competition that we know of.
On Foursquare, you can become a mayor of a location if you check in often enough.
Curiosity did more than just check in. It also left a few tips for other users in true Foursquare fashion.
“Wish you weighed less? Visit the Red Planet. Because Mars is so much smaller, its gravity makes you weigh only 3/8 what you do on Earth,” the rover said.
Curiosity also posted: “Mars is cold, dry and rocky. Extra moisturizer and sturdy shoes would be a good idea, plus oxygen for those of you who breathe.”
All good advice. Now stop showing off while we’re stuck on Earth, Curiosity!
