James Jones, the NFL wide receiver who signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent this off-season, has purchased a home in San Ramon for $2.3 million.

The home, built in 2006, enjoys views of the Bishop Ranch Regional Preserve from its hillside location in the Norris Canyon Estates. The 6,223 square feet of living space includes a family room, a formal dining room, an updated kitchen, a library, a workshop, five bedrooms and five full bathrooms.

A finished walk-out basement offers an additional bedroom suite, a bonus room and additional entrance. Outdoors, a large patio with a kitchen and fire pit overlooks rolling green lawns and the San Ramon foothills.

Jones, 30, played seven seasons in Green Bay after being selected by the Packers in the third round of the 2007 draft and won a championship with the team in 2010. He agreed to a three-year, $11.8-million contract with the Raiders in March.

Sale of the property closed on June 5, according to public records, with Jones paying $100 more than the original asking price -- $2.2999 million. The home previously sold in 2008 for $2.075 million.

Joujou Chawla of J. Rockliff Realtors was the listing agent.
