Singer-songwriter Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys fame and his wife, actress Lauren Kitt Carter, have put their estate behind gates in Hidden Hills on the market for $4.25 million.

The Traditional-style home, built in 1956 and since updated, sits on 1.32 acres of pastoral grounds and is accompanied by a newly built guesthouse. A chicken coop built in the style of the main house also resides on the grounds.

Reached by a private drive, the 5,200-square-foot house has a classic yet contemporary look. Wide-plank hardwood floors, beamed ceilings and subdued hues are among details of note. Bathroom and kitchen countertops feature vibrant Calcutta marble.

Living areas include an open great room, a dining room, a chef’s kitchen, a den/office and a game/family room with an aquarium. An oversized master suite – with a fireplace, two walk-in closets and a steam shower -- has a balcony that overlooks the grounds.

Sliding glass doors off the main level open to a covered patio with a fire-pit feature. Stone steps lead down to a swimming pool and spa.

The Carters bought the house a year ago for $3.65 million, records show.

Andrew Mortaza of Keller Williams Realty holds the listing.

Carter, 36, has been with the Backstreet Boys since its inception in 1993 and has also released three solo records. He and the band are reportedly working on a ninth studio album, due out later this year.

Kitt hosts the fitness series “Kitt Fit” on YouTube and has also appeared on the daytime series “One Life to Live.” More recently, she appeared with her husband in the SyFy movie “Dead 7.”
