Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Bel-Air home is for sale
Zsa Zsa Gabor’s longtime Bel-Air estate has come on the market at $15 million.
Gabor’s ninth husband, Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, had announced in January that the couple hoped to sell the house for $28 million. More recently, he expressed a desire to downsize to a modern building with security for him and his wife, 94, who has been in and out of the hospital for hip replacement, leg amputation and pneumonia.
“I want to move her into someplace safe and more comfortable — a luxury high-rise condo,” he said in an interview. “This house is old, you know.”
The French Regency-style mansion sits on a 1-acre gated promontory with views of downtown Los Angeles, Santa Catalina Island and the ocean.
The 28-room home, built in 1955, has a formal sitting room with an antique French fireplace, an oversized dining room with city views, a butler’s pantry off the kitchen and staff quarters. Four bedrooms, five bathrooms and a half-bath lie within 6,393 square feet of living space.
Former residents include Howard Hughes and Elvis Presley. Gabor bought the house in 1973 for $280,000.
Her scores of TV and film appearances include a starring role in “Moulin Rouge” (1952) and guest appearances on “The Hollywood Squares” in the 1960s and ‘70s and “The New Hollywood Squares” in the ‘’80s.

Rocky’s lake house? Expendable
Sylvester Stallone has listed a lakefront retreat in Thousand Oaks for $4,495,000.
Set on about 1.75-acres on Lake Sherwood, the property has more than 500 feet of waterfront. The 3,600-square-foot main house, built in 1946, has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Additional structures include a boat house, guest quarters and caretaker’s quarters.
It has been 35 years since Stallone, 64, first starred as boxer Rocky Balboa in the “Rocky” movie series. The man who went on to play John Rambo in “First Blood” (1982) more recently starred in “The Expendables” (2010).
Public records show he purchased the house in 2008 for $4.85 million. An adjacent lot he bought at the same time is listed at $1.65 million.
Jordan Cohen of Re/Max Olson & Associates, Westlake Village, is the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Los Feliz place charms a buyer
Actress Rose McGowan has sold her Los Feliz home for $1,775,000.
The gated 1928 Spanish villa has a grand entry, a step-down living room with a vaulted beamed ceiling and arched windows. Its 4,278 square feet include four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Television audiences know the 37-year-old from “Charmed” (2001-06). She stars as a villainess in the “Conan the Barbarian” movie due this summer.
McGowan bought the property in 2004 for $1,850,000, according to public records.

Estate is ready for a new cast
Television and film director John Rich has listed his longtime home in the Trousdale Estates area of Beverly Hills for $11.9 million.
This is the first time the completely renovated two-story house has been on the market in more than 44 years. It features a glass-paneled stairway and a glass elevator that leads to a gallery and a post-and-beam living room with vaulted ceilings and a stacked stone fireplace. The 7,513-square-foot home has a media-game room with full bar, four bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
The grounds of more than three-quarters of an acre include a solar-heated swimming pool, an outdoor fireplace, a barbecue area and a two-tier fountain.
Rich worked on such iconic ‘60s shows as “All in the Family,” “Bonanza” and “Gilligan’s Island.”

Hoping for a spot on the beach
Nick Richards of the ‘80s band Boys Don’t Cry has listed his Malibu home for $3,195,000.
Set on more than 2.5 acres, the estate includes a Mediterranean-style villa, Japanese gardens, a koi pond, a lagoon pool, a spa, waterfalls and a gated motor court. The 7,500-square-foot main house contains a ballet or yoga room, six bedrooms and 41/2 bathrooms.
Richards was frontman of the new wave band, known for its 1986 song “I Wanna Be a Cowboy.”
Richards is selling to be closer to the beaches of Malibu, even though the home is only about a 10-minute drive to the coast. Public records show he bought the house is 2008 for $2.85 million.
The home was once owned by actress Pamela Anderson and drummer Tommy Lee.

Game over in Manhattan Beach
Lakers Assistant General Manager Ronnie Lester has sold his Manhattan Beach home for $1.65 million.
The Mediterranean-style house, built in 2002, has a two-story-tall living room, a formal dining room and a family room that opens to the kitchen and back lawn. Including a guest suite and a master suite with a vaulted ceiling and a fireplace, the house has a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms in the nearly 4,300 square feet.
Lester, 52, played for the Lakers in 1985 and 1986. His contract expires at the end of the month.
He purchased the property in 2002 for $1.3 million, according to public records.
