Hulu enlists SundanceTV’s Jordan Helman to head drama

Share

Hulu wants more drama up its sleeve — and the company has tapped SundanceTV’s Jordan Helman to help strengthen its offerings.

Helman, who helped launch Sundance’s L.A.-based scripted operations in 2012, will oversee drama development and production. He will report to Hulu’s head of originals Beatrice Springborn.

While serving as vice president of scripted programming at SundanceTV, Helman worked on such projects as “The Honourable Woman” and “Recitify.” The USC graduate has also been a producer at Landscape Entertainment.

Hulu also announced it has added Aaron Klemanski, who previously served as director of development at CBS Television Studios-based production company Timberman/Beverly Productions (“Masters of Sex,” “Justified”) to work under Helman on drama production and alongside drama executive Jessica K. Scott.

Helman and Klemanski join the fold just as Hulu begins its renewed push on the scripted originals front. Upcoming dramas from the streaming service include the Stephen King-J.J. Abrams sci-fi yarn “11/22/63” and the Jason Katim’s series “The Way,” which stars Aaron Paul.
