âPacific Rimâ canât beat âThe Heatâ in DVD/Blu-ray sales
Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are arresting plenty of DVD and Blu-ray buyers.
Their buddy cop comedy âThe Heatâ is the top title on Rentrakâs DVD sales chart for its first week in release, thwarting Guillermo Del Toroâs science fiction smash-em-up movie âPacific Rim.â
âThe Heat,â in which Bullock plays a buttoned-up FBI agent who has to team up with a loutish local law enforcement officer to catch a drug kingpin, was one of the biggest grossing movies of the summer, with a domestic take of more than $159 million.

âPacific Rim,â which pitted 25-story robots against 25-story monsters, came in second place on the DVD chart, followed by the DreamWorks-produced, Fox-distributed animated offering âThe Croods,â about a Stone Age family, and the Diamond edition of Disneyâs âThe Little Mermaid.â
Last weekâs No. 1, âThe Hangover III,â fell all the way to fifth place. The stand-up comedy special by Kevin Hart, âLet Me Explain,â debuted in ninth.
The apocalyptic comedy âThis Is the Endâ was the top rental for the second week in a row.
