TV ratings: ‘The Voice’ tops key demo; ‘Flash/Arrow’ blend boosts CW

NBC won 18-to-49-year-old viewers with help from “The Voice” in Tuesday night’s prime-time TV ratings, while ABC’s holiday specials trailed closely behind.

The NBC singing competition was up 13% from last week with a rating of 2.6 in the key demo, according to Nielsen.

“The Voice” was No. 2 overall with about 11 million viewers tuning in to see which artists would make it to the top five.

“Marry Me” surged a whopping 27% from last week, with help from a lead-in from “The Voice.” The show posted a rating of 1.4 in the key demo and averaged 4.9 million viewers. “About a Boy” which climbed 10% from last week, nabbed a rating of 1.1 in the key demo.

Also on NBC, “Chicago Fire” stayed even with last week and tied its season low with a rating of 1.6 in the key demo. It was No. 4 overall for the night, racking up about 7.3 million viewers.

NBC won the key demo with a rating of 1.8 and was second overall with about 7.7 million viewers.

Though CBS aired only reruns of its crime dramas -- “NCIS,” “NCIS: New Orleans” and “Person of Interest” -- it still had the biggest audience. The network averaged 9.6 million viewers and a rating of 1.3 in the key demo.

“NCIS” was the most watched show of the night with 11.5 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” was third with 10.5 million. “Person of Interest” was fifth with 7 million.

Holiday specials and the superhero show “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” helped ABC nab second place in the key demo with a rating of 1.7. The network was third overall with about 5.75 million viewers.

ABC’s broadcast of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” drew 6.75 million viewers. The Peanuts gang was second in the key demo with a 2.1 rating and up 11% compared with last year’s telecast.

The network’s other holiday special, “Toy Story That Time Forgot,” averaged 6.8 million viewers and a rating of 1.9 in the key demo. It rounded out the top 10 overall with about 4.9 million viewers.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” was up 13% from its most recent original episode on Nov. 18. It averaged a rating of 1.8 in the key demo and 5.3 million viewers.

Also on the network, “Forever” surged from its most recent telecast two weeks ago in total viewers and in the key demo. It averaged 5.2 million viewers, up 18%, and a 1.2 in the key demo, up 20%.

On the CW, the crossover episode of “The Flash” and “Arrow “ was the series’ most watched episode since the second week of the season in October. It was up 22% in total viewers and 7% in the key demo.

“Supernatural” tayed even with last week with a rating of 0.9 in the key demo. It averaged about 2.4 million viewers.

The network had its most watched Tuesday night since “The Flash” series premiere on Oct. 7. It rounded out the top five overall among the networks with about 3.2 million viewers.

Meanwhile, on Fox, “Masterchef Junior” was up 7% in the key demo and 18% in total viewers. It averaged a rating of 1.6 and 4.9 million viewers.

“New Girl” also saw slight increases, posting a rating of 1.4 and and averaging 3 million viewers. “The Mindy Project” stayed even with last week with a rating of 1.1 but increased 5% in total viewers to 2.5 million.
