After the coffee. Before seeing if “Arrested Development” is still great.

Pain & more pain. It wasn’t a great weekend at the box office. “Pain & Gain,” the Michael Bay-directed dark comedy starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, finished first but only took in $20 million. “The Big Wedding” was an even bigger flop as it sold only $7.5 million in tickets. Overall, the U.S. box office was down almost 20% compared with the same weekend a year ago. The good news is that next week “Iron Man 3” will be in theaters and that should provide a big lift. The movie has already made almost $200 million overseas. Box office recaps from the Los Angeles Times and Movie City News.

Beats reruns. AXS, the small cable network backed by entrepreneur Mark Cuban, has struck a content-sharing deal with the Huffington Post. In two weeks, AXS will start carrying HuffPost Live, which is the Huffington Post’s online channel, for six hours during the day. Most of HuffPost Live’s daytime content is pop culture-centric and that fits with AXS’s goal of being a 24-7 entertainment channel. More on the pact from the Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal.

Is the shrimp any better? This week, many digital media players will make presentations to advertisers in New York in what has become known as the “NewFronts.” That’s a play on “upfronts,” which is what the TV industry calls its presentations to advertisers. Advertisers may spend as much as $1 billion during the NewFronts. Previews from Associated Press, Advertising Age and Variety.
