‘Scandal’: Live chat with Dan Bucatinsky today

The Los Angeles Times has recruited eager (and sometimes unethical?) journalist James Novak of “Scandal” fame to join the paper. Not even close! But Dan Bucatinsky, who portrays the enthusiastic reporter/hubby of the president’s chief of staff on the hit ABC show, will join us for a live chat at 2 p.m. PDT.

Last season, Bucatinsky -- as James -- opened the door to one of the show’s biggest questions. Not the will-they/won’t-they steamy conundrum between Olivia and Fitz, but rather the did-they/didn’t-they mystery (a.k.a. Operation Defiance, Ohio), meaning: Did President Fitz’s team rig the national election to get him into office?

The character’s roller-coaster storyline -- journalist on the prowl, disappointed husband of Cyrus, baby-obsessed spouse -- earned Bucatinsky a guest actor Emmy nomination.

We’ll talk to him about playing the out-of-the-loop spouse, navigating the spoiler waters of an in-demand show, and what we can expect in the upcoming fourth season. Of course, Bucatinsky has a whole other life outside of “Scandal,” as an author and a writer/producer (he’s a consulting producer on Shonda Rhimes’ other ABC show, “Grey’s Anatomy”), so we’ll see how all that informs his work.

For those who want their chance to let out their inner James, RSVP to the chat and submit your own questions on the widget at the top.
