Louis Tomlinson of One Direction welcomes baby boy

Louis Tomlinson has apparently gone in the direction of fatherhood: The One Direction crooner has reportedly welcomed his first child.

Tomlinson’s friend -- not girlfriend -- Briana Jungwirth gave birth to a baby boy in Los Angeles on Thursday, People reported.

The 24-year-old singer is “happy and very excited about becoming a dad” and thinks Jungwirth, 23, will be “an amazing mother,” a mutual friend of the first-time parents told the mag.

When news of the pregnancy broke in July, Tomlinson and the L.A.-based stylist were said to be friends, not in a relationship. The pair briefly dated in May after the British boy bander split from girlfriend Eleanor Calder a few months earlier, the mag said.

“Louis didn’t expect this, but he’s excited for it now,” an insider told Us Weekly over the summer. “He’s become very close friends with Briana this year and now they are looking forward to being parents. He’s definitely going to be there and be a great dad for their baby.”

Tomlinson may find that he has more time on his hands for daddy duties too: One Direction’s hiatus is rumored to be a permanent separation.
