After a mysteriously leaked photo of a nude Vanessa Hudgens appeared on various websites, the “High School Musical” star released a statement of apology on Friday.

“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me,” she said. “I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”

In response, the Disney Channel issued its own statement:

“Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope she’s learned a valuable lesson.”

The lesson may prove not only valuable, but expensive. Disney had no comment on whether or not Hudgens would be allowed to play her role opposite boyfriend Zac Effron in the film version of the popular TV movies, “High School Musical 3.”

Negotiations for the film roles are ongoing, a spokesperson said.
