“Swingtown” is CBS’ television drama series which peeks into the shag-carpeted suburban homes of the culturally transformative ‘70s to find couples reveling in the sexual and social revolution that introduced women’s liberation and challenged conventional wisdom. During this heady era of provocative change, Susan and Bruce Miller (Molly Parker and Jack Davenport) move their family to an affluent Chicago suburb where they’re confronted with personal choices, experimentation and shifting attitudes, all against the backdrop of a changing social climate defined by its unforgettable music, fashion and style. In this scene from the premiere episode, they enjoy the festivities at their new neighbors’ eye-opening Fourth of July party.
Couples swing on CBS’ ‘Swingtown’
Swingtown creator Mike Kelley works a scene with Lana Parrilla, left, who plays the free-swinging Trina Decker, and Miriam Shor, who plays the more-conservative Janet Thompson. CBS is going out on a more-risqué limb with the show, which premieres June 5 at 10 p.m. The show is better suited for the summer when theres just a different expectation, said CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler. Its escapist, its fun and theres a lot of humor in it. (Anne Cusack / Los Angeles Times)
