Some of Ayn Rand’s key philosophical beliefs, as expressed in “Atlas Shrugged” and other writings:

—The ideal political-economic system is laissez-faire capitalism.

—The pursuit of one’s own self-interest is the highest moral purpose of life.

—Reality exists as an objective absolute — facts are facts, independent of feelings, wishes, hopes or fears.

—There is no God.
