Some Favorite Writers Organized by Mona Simpson, author of “My Hollywood,” the Some Favorite Writers series presents James Lasdun, whose most recent book is the short story collection “It’s Beginning to Hurt.” His story “The Siege” was adapted by Bernardo Bertolucci for his film “Besieged.” Lasdun, ever-prolific, has also written two novels, “The Horned Man” and “Seven Lies,” as well as three books of poetry and two other short story collections. An Evening With Bootsy Collins The revered bass plunker, whose funky skills have backed up such soulful legends as James Brown and George Clinton, visits the intimate Clive Davis Theater for a discussion of his pioneering career, a bass demonstration and an audience Q&A. Raekwon Chef Raekwon has enjoyed one of the unlikeliest second acts in rap. A star of the Wu-Tang Clan, he released a beloved solo album “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx,” and promptly went MIA from many fans’ radars. A follow-up, “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2” was never expected to come close to the original, but lo, it was one of 2010’s highlights. He’ll perform from it at this intimate set.
