The Enabler: Pretty as a picture at Elevate Lounge?

Nothing pairs better with a nearly 360-degree view of the sparkling downtown Los Angeles skyline than a well-chilled martini primed with a plump green olive. This was the Enabler’s thought at a recent Monday night party for skier Lindsey Vonn at Elevate Lounge, 21 floors up in the hive of skyscrapers that define the Financial District.

Her second thought was: “Should I tweet that?”

Memorializing life in 140-character outbursts and pithy Facebook status updates is why the Enabler was at Elevate in the first place. The club recently received a $1 million face-lift that includes stunning new tufted white leather banquettes, a ceiling full of computerized tiles that glow with light, and a sound system tailor-made for the club’s explosive new House music night called SkyHOUSE.

It also has a new “photo booth” called iSnap — the first of its kind at a nightclub in the city — that takes users’ photos and then allows them to immediately post to Facebook or Twitter. It’s a stunningly bad idea when you’re drunk, and that’s why it’s such a good idea.

“Liquid courage takes on a whole new meaning,” Elevate’s general manager, Michael Geist, told the Enabler while she suited up in a pair of sparkly sunglasses and a giant green beanie with a pompom from the prop table the club provides. Joining her were friends Charlie, Emily and Terry, chosen for the visit by the Enabler for their susceptibility to Champagne cocktails.

Remaining unself-conscious in public is essential with iSnap, since it’s not actually a booth — it’s just a computer on a white stand so you can jam in as many tipsy friends as will fit on the screen. What’s more, you won’t end up fighting over who gets to keep the pictures because everybody does — even your mom — when you send them straight to the Internet.

“I like that green hat, I would rock it,” Elevate’s host, Talibah Fields, told the Enabler as she pressed the screen to activate the camera, and snap!

We chose to share the photo on Facebook and email it to ourselves. A few drinks later, we were lucky there was a line for the iSnap, because we were so ready to post another. And this time we didn’t look nearly as cute as we thought we did.
