Quentin Tarantino headed to movie theaters early December

Quentin Tarantino is still cutting “Django Unchained” ahead of its Dec. 25 release, a point he noted with a mixture of relish and nervousness at the Hollywood Film Awards Monday night. But fans who want a little Tarantino fix at the multiplex before “Django” hits will get their chance.

Two of the filmmaker’s most beloved works, “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction,” are getting the one-night-only theatrical treatment.

“Reservoir Dogs” will play nationally Dec. 4 and “Pulp Fiction” will play Dec. 6 in events being dubbed “Tarantino XX,” a group of companies that includes Miramax (which owns rights to the films) and special-event firm Fathom have announced. Several Tarantino trailers and a short retrospective on the filmmaker’s career will also accompany the films.

In the Los Angeles metro area, the screenings will take place at more than two dozen theaters, including L.A. Live and the Century City 15. (Check here for local listings.)

The notion of the one-night theatrical event has become increasingly popular, with everything from an LCD Soundsystem documentary to a “Ghostbusters” reprisal in the past years. But debates about Burger Royales and uncomfortable silences are an especially welcome addition.
