Heatmeter: Day-Lewis, ‘Argo’ and Weinstein Co. top final rankings

Share

Sure, “Argo” walked away with the big kahuna Sunday night at the Oscars. But in a year of anomalies, it’s fitting that the director and producer of the best-picture winner is not the leader in the final Heatmeter rankings for top 2012-13 personalities.

With Ben Affleck out of the running for best director at the Oscars, he missed out on some key points and finished in third. Instead, Daniel Day-Lewis, winning nearly every acting prize known to man this year, soared to the top, followed closely by Jennifer Lawrence of “Silver Linings Playbook.”

(Incidentally, the top two performers last year were the producer and director of the 2011-12 big winner, “The Artist.”)

Meanwhile, with Warner Bros. fielding only one major contender, it wasn’t the top studio either. That honor went to the Weinstein Co., which with “Django Unchained,” “Silver Linings” and “The Master” scored nominations and wins in a number of major categories throughout the season. A distant second was Disney, which gathered points from “Lincoln” as well as animated titles such as “Brave.”

Needless to say, with its many best picture and writing wins this season, “Argo” garnered more points than any other movie by a wide margin.

Here is the final tally on all counts:

Daniel Day-Lewis, 255
Jennifer Lawrence, 235
