Classic Hollywood: Francis Ford Coppola to be honored at TCM Film Festival
Oscar-winning director Francis Ford Coppola will be honored by Turner Classic Movies with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre during the TCM Film Festival on April 29. The filmmaker’s body of work includes “The Godfather” trilogy, “Apocalypse Now” and “The Conversation.”
Coppola is known for finding young talent casting actors Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, Laurence Fishburne, Matt Dillon and Diane Lane in early roles. He also supported the work of fellow directors such as George Lucas and John Milius.

This marks the sixth year that TCM has immortalized an iconic Hollywood figure in the Chinese Theatre’s famous collection of hand and footprints during the festival. Previous honorees were Peter O’Toole, Kim Novak, Jane Fonda, Jerry Lewis and Christopher Plummer.
