Kenneth Turan’s DVD Pick of the Week: Unusual Movies; Masterworks of American Avant-garde Experimental Film and 3-D Rarities, a collection of 22 ultra-rare and stunningly restored 3-D films.
There are things going on in the film universe that we have not dreamt of, things that the excellent people at Flicker Alley specialize in putting on DVD and Blu-ray release.
Top of that list is “Masterworks of American Avant-Garde Experimental Film, 1920-1970,” which presents a whopping 37 films discovered in 60 film archives that pushed the boundaries of what audiences were used to seeing on film.

Just as unusual is “3D Rarities,” pieces of cinema that investigated the third dimension long before it was fashionable. Thankfully also viewable in 2D if that is what your system allows.
