“Life of Pi” screenwriter David Magee has been named this year’s recipient of the UCLA Screenwriters Showcase Excellence in Screenwriting Award.

Magee, who earned adapted screenplay Oscar nominations for last year’s “Pi” as well as for 2004’s “Finding Neverland,” will receive the award, recognizing his body of work, at the WGA Theater in Beverly Hills on June 10.

The Screenwriters Showcase will also be honoring UCLA students in the school’s MFA Screenwriting program. More than 200 industry professionals will vote on screenplays and teleplays written by the students, and there will be staged readings of excerpts from the works during the event.
