Adele sets ‘25’ release date

Share

This week, Adele announced that a new album was ready -- and that she was “sorry it took so long, but, you know, life happened.”

Now the wait is nearly over. “25” has a final release date on XL/Columbia Records: Nov. 20.

The singer made the announcement with an Instagram post featuring the above image (she didn’t say if this was the “25” album art). The 11-track album’s first single, “Hello,” will be released Friday with a new video directed by Xavier Dolan.

Adele previously debuted a few seconds of “Hello” in a brief TV promo during a broadcast of the British version of “The X Factor.” Before announcing a release date, she detailed the album’s emotional core in a long note to fans:

“My last record was a break-up record, and if I had to label this one, I would call it a make-up record. ... I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did.”

Adele’s “21” was the best selling album of the decade. Since then, her most recent music was the theme to the James Bond film “Skyfall,” for which she won an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
