Dim Mak sets new Sunday series at Create
Since Steve Aoki became a major figure in EDM, his flagship Dim Mak label has gotten a second wind as a major player in L.A. dance music.
Now the label has teamed up with SBE and Insomniac for a new Sunday night series at Create in Hollywood to showcase rising international and homegrown dance talent.
The series starts this Sunday, Sept. 15, with a set from hard-house staple Felix Cartal. Sept. 22 gets the Toronto genre-smashers Autoerotique, and Sept. 29 sports a double-bill of the “We Speak No Americano” vets Yolanda Be Cool and the suave Chilean-via-Germany producer Matias Aguayo.

The night is pegged as a kind of revival of the mid-aughts indie-dance ethic, where punks, hip-hop-heads and more orthodox electronica fans could find common ground.
Create is the latest dance-centric space opened by SBE, in collaboration with Electric Daisy Carnival producer Insomniac. It’s quickly become a destination tour stop for mainstream and progressive electronic acts, and this new series should bolster its reputation, on what’s generally a slow night of the week in dance music.
Get ready for some hung over Monday mornings, club kids.
