‘Girls’ finale: Five things we want to see

As “Girls” heads into its season 2 finale Sunday night, water coolers everywhere are bracing for dull conversations devoid of tips on cotton swab usage and talk of bodily fluids.

The modestly rated HBO show, which follows a group of twentysomething friends navigating career and relationship troubles, has been a generator of critical reaction since its debut last spring. That talk hasn’t muffled in its sophomore season -- including in this newsroom: Exhibit A and Exhibit B. And Lena Dunham, the wunderkind behind the show, is sure to keep the conversation going with whatever she has in store for the season 2 swan song.

Since HBO didn’t provide us with a screener, we’re left to wait and watch with the rest of America. And it got us imagining what we hope to see (the PG-13 version, that is, since this is a family blog):

1) Our ears are still ringing from last week’s cotton swab massacre. The season finale begins with Hannah, ears still bandaged up, closing her laptop eight times upon completing the eighth draft of her book. She moseys into the kitchen to open a package from her parents: it’s a WaxVac!!! Cue title card.

2) Jessa comes back from wherever she was — seriously, where did she go? Turns out, as mentioned in passing, she was at Guy Fieri’s restaurant (Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar). Not to eat, but to get her Mountain Dew fix. No one asks for further details.

3) Shosh reads a copy of “Fifty Shades of Grey” and it awakens her. She won’t dump Ray, but she’ll “hold hands” through three different boroughs to “find herself” — all the while sporting a variety of hairstyles involving a sock bun.

4) Someone posted a cellphone video to YouTube of Marnie’s cringe-worthy karaoke travesty as seen in last week’s episode. She thinks she’s the next Katy Perry and meets with ARK Music Factory — the label that gave us Rebecca Black. She starts a Kickstarter campaign in hopes of raising $6,000 to pay the label to help her “lay down a track.”

5) Adam finds a chest hair. Plucks it. Close up shot and everything -- causing critics to go nuts on Twitter wondering about its underlying meaning.
