Famed author and literary Brat Pack member Bret Easton Ellis is prepping to make his official directorial debut with “The Deleted,” an original thriller series about three seemingly disconnected Angelenos that disappear, spurring a panic in a group of 20-something former cult members.

Ellis’s literary career began with “Less Than Zero” in 1985, published when he was just 21. He followed his debut novel with “The Rules of Attraction” in 1987 and “American Psycho” in 1991.

Though his career behind the camera includes only the 2015 short film “Orphéus” and the 2010 short film for online humor site “Funny or Die,” “All That Glitters,” the series will be Ellis’ first significant foray into directing.

“The Deleted” will appear on Fullscreen, a streaming video-on-demand provider launching Tuesday and offering a $4.99 monthly subscription for ad-free streaming of new content such as “The Deleted” or the reboot of the Sid and Marty Krofft show “Electra Woman and Dyna Girl” and essential television classics like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Saved by the Bell.

Fullscreen on Monday also announced a daily sketch show, “Party in the Back” featuring Twaimz, Josh Leyva, Rachel Scanlon and Brandon Armstrong, that will give a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create their series.

Upon its debut, Fullscreen will offer a number of new series, including “Filthy Preppy Teen$,” from Paul Scheer, as well as shows the content provider deems “personality-driven programming,” “Shane & Friends,” “Zall Good with Alexis G. Zall” and “Kingdom Geek.”
