MTV is hoping audiences are ready to “Scream” again.
The cable channel announced on Tuesday that it had ordered the reboot of the hit film franchise to series, expected to premiere sometime in October 2015.
The 10-episode series will star Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Connor Weil, Amadeus Serafini, Carlson Young, Tracy Middendorf and Joel Gretsch as the sheriff.
Original series director Wes Craven will serve as executive producer, along with Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena, Cathy Konrad and show runner Jill Blotevogel.
Blotevogel revised the pilot’s original script, which was written by “Criminal Minds” writers Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin.
The original film series ran from 1996 until 2011 and consisted of four films, all directed by Craven.
The new series will introduce a whole new batch of teenagers, but no word yet on what kind of threat they’ll be facing. Expect a lot of dead teenagers, however.
To get fans in the mood, MTV tweeted out a phone number: (310) 461-4299 to hear the comforting voice of the Ghostface killer from the original films.
