‘The Voice’ recap: 15 highlights from the Season 10 finale

Share

By now you know who won Season 10 of “The Voice” -- Alisan Porter, the talented mom with the killer pipes who previously found fame as a child actor, most notably playing the title role in the 1991 John Hughes comedy “Curly Sue,” and falling prey to and overcoming an addiction to alcohol somewhere between there and here. But Porter wasn’t handed her trophy until the very end of the two-hour live finale. What happened before then?

Here are 15 highlights from the Season 10 finale:

  • Carson Daly cutely referring to Blake Shelton as the “loud cowboy.”
  • Pharrell Williams (seemingly spontaneously) scampering out of his seat and onto the stage to join Little Big Town as they sang “One of Those Days,” a song off their forthcoming album, which he produced.
  • Third-place finisher Hannah Huston looking like she really meant it when she sang the lyrics “I think you’re crazy” to CeeLo Green.
  • Joe Walsh using a “talk box” during his “Rocky Mountain Way” duet with Laith Al-Saadi, who finished the season in fourth place. (Classic rock throwback moment.)
  • Sia, doing her “Cheap Thrills” thing on “The Voice,” as she did it just a short time ago on “American Idol.”

  • The lovely blend of Alison Krauss and runner-up Adam Wakefield’s voices as they performed the song “Willin.’”
  • Adam Levine’s father, Fred Levine, laying it right on the table about his son’s early career prospects: “The family always talked about what he was going to do because we knew he wouldn’t be a brain surgeon. He was lucky he found music.”
  • Shelton cracking Pink up by trying on her bright red lipstick and doing that lip-smacking thing moms do to blend it. Color name: Lady Danger.
  • Williams’ response to Shelton’s stick-it-to-her song, “She’s Got a Way With Words,” from his aptly named new album “If I’m Honest.” (“Wow,” the “Happy” singer mouthed about the song, which Daly described as “very personal.”)
  • The comforting discovery of a tweet from Owen Danoff saying his reason for not being well enough to perform during Al-Saadi’s bring-back performance, as scheduled, was “Nothing serious.” Phew.
  • Porter and Jennifer Nettles singing the heck out of Nettles’ “Unlove You.”
  • Christina Aguilera’s dramatic entrance for her very brief shared stage time with Ariana Grande. (Alas, no Whitney Houston hologram -- or, OK, maybe that comes as a relief.)
  • The sweetness and good cheer with which the singers who came in third and fourth (Huston and Al-Saadi, respectively) accepted the disappointing news, and the support their coaches showed them.
  • The over-the-top excitement with which Aguilera and Porter responded to the announcement of her win.
  • The adorable moment Porter leaned in to her curly-haired daughter to share her victory. Oof. Tears.

Next season, of course, Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus join “The Voice” as coaches, sliding into Aguilera’s and Williams’ big red chairs, which should mean lots more highlights to look forward to. See you then!
