‘True Blood’ recap: Sookie learns the truth about Ben - he’s Warlow!

Ben Flynn (Rob Kazinsky) isn't a faerie/human "halfling" after all. Turns out he's the evil Warlow -- a vampire/faerie hybrid.

Warlow revealed! Andy’s faerie kids dead? Governor’s daughter goes vampire! Sam gets a new girlfriend – and a human one at that? So much to recap in “True Blood” Episode 64.

Ironically titled “At Last,” referring to the Etta James love song, the latest episode reveals that Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) has no love for Ben Flynn (Rob Kazinsky). That’s because she knows Ben isn’t a faerie/human hybrid like he claims.

Instead, he’s an unholy faerie/vampire mix. What’s more, he’s the dreaded Warlow, perhaps the world’s oldest vampire. And thanks to faerie blood coursing through his veins, he can walk in daylight – unlike any other vampire.

Sookie learns the truth about Ben/Warlow when she finds a drop of his powerful blood on her living room floor – blood that possibly saved the life of her brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten).

Jason and his faerie grandfather Niall (Rutger Hauer) also get wise to Warlow, but their attempt to kill him fails miserably. Jason is “glamored” into forgetting what transpired and Niall is dispatched into another dimension.

But Sookie the seductress is ready for this faerie/vampire whose soul battles between light and dark. She invites him for a candlelight dinner, dresses in a sexy outfit and laces her fried chicken with vampire-killing silver. When that doesn’t work, she moves the action to her couch.

Just when her suitor thinks he’s about to score, Sookie creates a white-hot ball of energy that could mean the “true death” for Warlow. And if Sookie unleashes that energy, she loses her faerie powers – forever.

Elsewhere, Tara (Rutina Wesley) frees the Governor’s daughter Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire) from the clutches of vampire Eric (Alexander Skarsgård). But rather than seek the protection of her vamp-hating father, Willa waits for Eric to find her.

“Do you really want to help me?” asks Eric, who bites Willa’s neck, turns her into a vampire and sends her home in a bloody nightgown.

“What have they done to you?” asks stunned Gov. Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard). “Daddy, I’m a vampire but I’m still me,” Willa replies. “You have to stop persecuting us.”

But religious fanatic Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp), who’s moved into politics and the Governor’s bed, dismisses Willa’s plea as “devil talk.” And when Willa smells her father’s blood and impulsively bites him, Sarah whips out a pistol. Is this the end for young Willa?

Back in Bon Temps, vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) forces organic chemist Hido Takahashi (Keone Young) to synthesize faerie blood so vamps can survive in the sun, just like Warlow. To obtain blood samples for the scientist, Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) lures the thrill-seeking faerie teens of Sheriff Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) to Bill’s house.

It turns out their faerie blood is difficult to reproduce, however. And Jessica makes matters far worse when she loses control and attacks the defenseless teens. Bill hears the commotion and finds all four girls lying possibly lifeless on the floor. “Please tell me they’re not dead,” a tearful Jessica pleads.

When Sheriff Andy goes searching for his daughters, deputy Jason mentions that “faeries are like catnip to vampires.” Andy suddenly realizes what’s happened and speeds toward Bill’s house with sirens blaring and guns loaded.

Finally, shapeshifter Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) rescues do-gooder Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) after werewolves slaughtered her friends. She’s hobbled by a nasty wolf bite so Sam morphs into a horse and carries her to safety. As they sit on a motel bed, Sam comforts despondent Nicole. They tenderly kiss.

Sam’s last girlfriend died in his arms. Has his true love come along at last? In turbulent Bon Temps, don’t bet on it.
