Actress Julianne Moore and polo-playing hottie Nacho Figueras were among the beautiful people gathered in the front row for Ralph Lauren's spring show Thursday morning, on the final day of New York Fashion Week.

The look: Utility met elegance in the collection, a mash-up of haute safari wear, vibrant silks and a maharaja's worth of colored jewels that was all about roughing it, Ralph Lauren-style.

Key pieces: Khaki cargo pants or jodhpurs worn with draped silk tops or blouson jackets in jewel tone colors. Shimmery, olive metallic organza safari jacket and pencil skirt. Cropped canvas safari jacket over sage green silk taffeta full skirt. Safari shirt tucked into lemon yellow tulle ball skirt. White column skirt with utility pockets, olive drab button-down shirt and rainbow jeweled necklace. Billowy sage green parachute silk taffeta evening gown.

The verdict: A welcome break from the elaborate costume dramas Lauren often sends down the runway, this collection was modern and contemporary in its mix of masculine and feminine, hard and soft, casual and dressed up.
