Planet Beauty opens in Beverly Hills

Reality star Brandi Glanville of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and hair extension maven Leyla Milani were on hand last week at the formal opening of Planet Beauty’s Beverly Hills store, a Westside flagship for the popular beauty boutique chain.

The opening of the 36th location by the privately owned company, which is based in Newport Beach, was done in conjunction with the Exclusive Collections Gallery next door, where artist Henry Ascensio painted a live model while guests milled between both venues, drinking pink champagne.

The new Planet Beauty on Beverly Drive, in a space formerly occupied by a tailoring and dry-cleaning business, boasts other first-time features, said director of store operations John Dick.

“The lighting on the walls, marble floors and vanities are all new, and not something seen in our other stores,” he said.

Glanville, who was also signing copies of her book “Drinking and Dating,” took a seat in front of one of the four white wood-framed mirrored vanities and had her makeup done by an artist for Gorgeous Cosmetics. Other premium brands available: Moroccan Oil, Caudalie and Jane Iredale.

The new store is at 231 S. Beverly Drive. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
