Roland Mouret’s chic collection for Banana Republic debuts Thursday

Fashion designer Roland Mouret’s much-anticipated capsule collection for Banana Republic is set to debut on Thursday.

Of course, that calls for a party and on Tuesday night, the designer and collection were feted at an event in N.Y.C. where actress Julianne Hough and stylists Kate Young, Micaela Erlanger and Raquel Smith were among the guests.

The nearly 30-piece collection is full of structured dresses, pencil skirts and tops and includes chic, sophisticated looks appropriate for work or for an evening out. (Hough, for instance, wore a one-shoulder sheath to the aforementioned party.) There are also leggings, a zippered jacket and a perforated belt.

Mouret worked with Banana Republic’s signature Sloan fabric, a bi-stretch material that contours the body and creates figure-flattering silhouettes.

Besides the fabric, color blocking, subtle leopard print and body skimming cuts set the collection apart from some other high/low collections we’ve seen in the last few years.

Prices range from $49.50 for a belt to $165 for a dress. The collection will be available at Banana Republic stores and at bananarepublic.com.
