Songstress and “The Voice” coach Shakira is on both the front and back covers of Glamour’s February “hair flip” issue (flip the magazine over and you get a mini-mag full of hair ideas). In an interview, Shakira says that working on a duet with Rihanna was “utopia,” while working with Adam Levine and other men on “The Voice” can be challenging: “I’ve learned I have to be a good sport.” [Glamour]
And Jessica Simpson is on the cover of Redbook’s February issue. She talks about dealing with the criticism she received for her weight gain during pregnancy: “I never listen to it, no matter who the press talks about when they’re pregnant. It’s ridiculous and unfair. I think any woman who is pregnant and creating a life is pretty much entitled to eat whatever she wants as long as she’s healthy. I wasn’t going to let the media take away from what was one of the happiest times in my life.” [Redbook]
Meanwhile, Mindy Kaling, who is on one of four alternate covers of February Elle, blows off questions about why her photo is a portrait while more is shown of the other three actresses who are pictured: “I love my @ELLEmagazine cover,” Kaling (who is reportedly a size 8) wrote Tuesday on Twitter. “It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me.” [Los Angeles Times]
Denizens of the fashion world including Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour, Cosmo Editor Joanna Coles; models Karen Elson, Karlie Kloss and Hilary Rhoda; and designers Nicole Miller, Cynthia Rowley and Zac Posen attended the Season 3 premiere of “Girls” on Monday night in New York — amid rumors that creator and star Lena Dunham will appear on Vogue’s February cover.
