Letters: The Kardashian Konnection

Share

I have no doubt that Jennifer Meyer [“Her Star Is Rising, Jan. 13] and Rob Kardashian [“Socks With Real Konnectedness,” Jan. 13] are the star designers you proclaim them to be. But these people can generate publicity and sales through their significant connections. Why must you do it for them?

Surely there are talented, hard-working and innovative creators worthy of attention (we might like to know about) who don’t have built-in clients such as Jennifer Aniston and Kanye West.

I have to say thank you, Adam Tschorn. It was such a pleasure to read your article [“Socks With Real Konnectedness”] in this morning’s Image section of the Los Angeles Times. Your article was nicely laid out, and your detailed interview showed interest in and respect for your subject. Well done. I’d like to see more of the Arthur George line. Color is not just a fashion point for women.

I was among the viewers introduced to the upright Rob Kardashian through his participation in Season 13 of “Dancing With the Stars.” (Modesty and candor are refreshing; he got my vote.) I regret to say I’ve never kept up with “the family,” don’t even own cable. I was, however, thrilled to learn of this young brother, and you reminded me he is living life on his own terms, with values and a style all his own. I now have a reason to visit Neiman Marcus and look forward to the debut of the AG website.

It’s so nice to see another Kardashian getting free L.A. Times publicity — something that any real fashion designer would kill for. Because they just don’t get enough publicity. I imagine it’s because it’s so difficult to design men’s socks, and Rob was “doing all fashion all the time.” It

never ceases to amaze me how the Kardashians keep getting richer without any real talents because of publicity that is given to them by folks like you. Life truly is unfair.
