Bucato drought benefit dinner, ‘Heroes’ Week’ specials at Justice Urban Tavern

Bucato in Culver City is hosting a dinner Wednesday to raise money for Flora Bella, one of the restaurant’s local partner farms. The restaurant says the farm has been hit extremely hard by the drought. Ari Taymor from Alma, Chris Jacobson from Girasol, Shannon Swindle from Craft, Travis Lett of Gjelina and David Nayfeld will all join Bucato chef/owner Evan Funke in the kitchen to prepare a seven-course meal. The prix-fixe menu will include foccacia, squash blossoms and butternut squash agnolotti from Funke, morcilla corn and chanterelles from Nayfeld, a Flora Bella potato dish from Jacobson, a watermelon and tomato dish from Taymor, a whole lamb prepared by all of the chefs and ricotta cheesecake, wood-roasted figs, pistachios and fig-mulberry sorbet from Swindle. Dinner is $125 per person and will include a glass of sparkling wine and dessert. All of the dinner’s proceeds will go to Flora Bella. Justice Urban Tavern is hosting a “Heroes’ Week” through Friday to focus on the Sept. 11 memorial. Throughout the week, any guest in uniform, which includes police officers, firefighters, paramedics and members of the military, will receive a free appetizer or dessert with their meal. The restaurant has also partnered with Fireman’s Brew to offer $4 beers throughout the week.
