David Beckham launches Haig Club whisky, no underwear included

Share

Soccer star and underwear model extraordinaire David Beckham is getting into the whisky business. The former Galaxy player launched Haig Club single grain whisky over the weekend in Edinburgh.

Beckham teamed up with British liquor company Diageo and “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller for the release.

The whisky is made at the House of Haig’s Cameronbridge distillery in Fife, Scotland’s oldest grain whisky distillery. Master blender Chris Clark combines mature whisky from refill, American oak and rejuvenated casks to make Haig Club.

The company describes the flavor as “showcasing butterscotch-smooth tropical fruit and unexpected, spicy backing harmonies.”

And you’re not alone in thinking the blue color and shape of the bottle resembles a bottle of cologne. But according to a release for the whisky, the bottle was inspired by the tradition of blenders using blue tasting glasses to review spirits based on nothing but taste and aroma.

Haig Club is now available at bars, restaurants and retail stores in Britain and will launch in the U.S., China, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore in the next few weeks.

A 700-ml bottle is selling online in Britain for the equivalent of $75.21. And in case you’re wondering, the bottles do not come with any pairs of men’s underwear.
