Porchetta roast for Ferragosto: Cecconi’s and chef Andrea Cavaliere are hosting a porchetta roast this Sunday in honor of the Italian holiday, Ferragosto. The tradition dates back to the Roman times, marking the time of the year when Italians took a break from the bustling city life to retreat to beaches, mountains and countryside. Ferragosto is celebrated with a porchetta, a pig that has been deboned, stuffed with garlic, rosemary, fennel and other herbs, and roasted over an open fire. At Cecconi’s guests will be treated to roast pork, applesauce, wood oven roasted potatoes and pork crackling. 2 p.m. until the porchetta runs out. $26 per plate. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant. 8764 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, (310) 432-2000, www.cecconiswesthollywood.com.
