Breast implants made news recently when the Food and Drug Administration said they might be linked to a rare form of cancer in a very small number of women. The risk is extremely small, but women who have them likely have some questions. This plastic surgeon can help sort it out.

Dr. Seth Thaller, a surgery professor and chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Miami medical school, will be the guest on a live Web chat Friday (1 p.m. EST, noon CST, 10 a.m. PST) to share the science behind the risks.

The possible link between silicone and saline implants involve a rare cancer called anaplastic large-cell lymphoma, or ALCL. This Los Angeles Times story explains that the cancer risk, if it exists, is minuscule.
