Update: Singer-songwriter Graham Nash and his wife, Susan, have sold their longtime Encino home for its asking price of $1.6 million. The house came on the market in mid-August and was in escrow within a week.

The couple raised their children in the house and now plan to make Hawaii their full-time residence.

The Tudor house was the center of their family life as well as a place to entertain and for Nash to compose. He wrote songs on the grand piano in the living room and in the guesthouse, which includes a recording studio.

The gated property includes the main house, a guesthouse and a pool with spa. There are a total of six bedrooms and 6 1/2 bathrooms in more than 4,600 square feet of living space.

The two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is on the road as part of the Crosby, Stills & Nash U.S. tour. He appeared on the Season 7 finale of “American Idol” in 2008 singing his ‘70s hit “Teach Your Children.” Nash, 68, also has published photography books of his own work.

The couple bought the house in 1986 for $900,000, according to public records.

Julie Jones of Sotheby’s International Realty’s Sunset office had the listing; Harriet Cameron of Prudential California, Sherman Oaks, and Andrew M. Spitz of Prudential, Encino, represented the buyer.
