Gift pick No. 45: David Weidman’s midcentury screen prints

Once you see the serigraphs of Los Angeles artist David Weidman, you’ll swear you’ve seen the work before -- probably because you have. As writer David A. Keeps reported for us in an article and photo gallery back in 2010, when Weidman was 89, the artist’s work -- often whimsical animal scenes in layers of color, screened by hand -- is so richly linked to the midcentury era. A few months after our original profile ran, Keeps noted that Weidman’s work fittingly had popped up on “Mad Men” as period-perfect wall art in Peggy Olson’s office.
