Flare Above Bethlehem
An Israeli flare illuminates the Church of Nativity in the West Bank town of Bethlehem on Wednesday. Many of the more than 200 people who reportedly took refuge inside the church when Israeli defense forces entered the town are suspected to be Palestinian gunmen. The Israeli Army continued in their search for weapons and suspected Palestinian terrorists in the area in what is being called “Operation Defensive Shield.” (GRAHAM MORRISON / Getty Images)
Homes in the city of Nablus come under Israeli fire. Meanwhile, Jenin’s refugee camp remained off limits to aid groups and journalists.
