OVERVIEW
Having already broken cover at the Shanghai show earlier this year, the Buick Riviera Concept now comes to L.A. It revives the Riviera name, last seen on a production car eight years ago, but embraces new technology such as carbon fiber body panels and a hybrid drive system.
It’s a coupe, with 2+2 seating and, it has to be said, rather cool gullwing doors. The plan is for this car to be made and sold in China, but the design showcases various elements that could make their way into Buicks built for the U.S. market.
OUR TAKE
The proof of the pudding is in the driving. It’s all very well having great ideas, but they need to be put into practice to have any effect. The Riviera Concept is intriguing, but no more than that right now.
