In 2006 — when Jeremy Cramer met Shirley Chang at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades — the pair hit it off from the start. They began dating and for Cramer, “It was like a magical moment each time we got together.” But after just a few weeks, Chang had to leave for Peru to visit relatives. He booked a last-minute ticket and went with her.

One evening on that trip, they were relaxing at her cousin’s pool, Chang remembered, “and there was that awkward moment when you want to say the word ‘love’ for the first time.” She took the chance — and discovered he felt the same way.

Chang, 30, is director of communications at Two Lads Inc., a garment accessories company in Vernon. Cramer, 33, is assistant vice president of lending at Builders Bank in Century City.

The Rancho Park couple were wed August 20 at the Adamson House, a 1920s estate overlooking Malibu Lagoon State Beach. Their officiant was Mary Jean Valente of A Ceremony of the Heart, who included a Chinese tea ceremony to honor Chang’s Taiwanese roots and a sand ceremony to represent Cramer’s western heritage.
