Sylmar gunman: In the April 5 LATExtra section, an article about a gunman in Sylmar who critically wounded a Los Angeles police officer and was found dead after an hours-long standoff said that statements about the man keeping a gun under the seat of his car and being “king” of a tight-knit family were made by a next-door neighbor. The statements were made by a woman who knew him in the 1990s. She asked not to be identified by name because she feared for her safety.

Pawlenty’s record: In some copies of the April 3 Section A, a chart with an article about former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s fiscal record mislabeled the scale of the data. The scale was in millions of dollars, not billions.

Civil war on screen: In the April 4 Calendar section, a subheadline with the Classic Hollywood column which reviewed four movies and a TV drama about the Civil War, erred in giving the title of the 1951 film “The Red Badge of Courage” as “The Red Bad of Courage.”

High school volleyball: In the April 2 Sports section, the subheadline on an article about Manhattan Beach Mira Costa High’s victory over Los Angeles Loyola in boys’ volleyball referred to Mira Costa as the Spartans. They are the Mustangs.

Jack Nicklaus: An article in the April 4 Sports section about Jack Nicklaus’ victory in the Masters golf tournament in 1986 said Nicklaus scored an eagle on the par-four 15th hole. Nicklaus eagled the 15th, but it is a par five.

Drug smuggling allegations: In the March 30 Section A, a brief news item about a case in which three inmates and their loved ones had been accused of attempting to smuggle drugs into a New Jersey jail on the pages of a children’s coloring book gave an incorrect name for the substance. The drug, which is used to treat heroin addiction, is called Suboxone, not Subozone.
