Afghanistan economy: An article in the Aug. 19 Section A about Afghans’ fear for their economy as the U.S. begins to withdraw its troops misstated the relationship between foreign aid and the economy and the percentage amount involved. Rather than 97% of the Afghan economy last year being tied to international military and donor spending, the World Bank estimates that total aid was equivalent to 91% of the country’s economy.

Deportation cases: An article in the Aug. 29 LATExtra section about the Obama administration’s plans to review 300,000 deportation cases was missing the word “toward” in the first paragraph. The paragraph should have said: Hilda Jauregui and dozens of women at an Orange County immigration detention center recently gathered to hear the news on television that the Obama administration will review thousands of deportation cases with an eye toward closing those considered “low-priority.”

NightWave: The Healthy Skeptic column in the Aug. 29 Health section incorrectly identified Keith Wymbs as chief executive of Coherence Resources Inc., which makes a sleeping device called the NightWave. He is the firm’s chairman.

Cinecon film festival: The Classic Hollywood column in the Aug. 29 Calendar section about the Cinecon film festival misidentified the Academy Film Archive as the Academy Archive.
