USC scholarships: In the Sept. 3 LATExtra section, an article about a program to offer South Los Angeles students scholarships to USC misidentified El Sereno Middle School as an elementary school.

Frank Pulli: In the Sept. 2 LATExtra section, a brief obituary of Major League Baseball umpire Frank Pulli said that Pulli ruled on a play during a 1978 World Series game between the Dodgers and New York Yankees in which a ball thrown by second baseman Davey Lopes glanced off baserunner Reggie Jackson’s leg. It was shortstop Bill Russell, not Lopes, who made the throw, and the ball hit Jackson’s hip, not his leg.

Horse racing: In the Sept. 3 Sports section, an item in the Day in Sports column said that jockey Brice Blanc rode Egg Drop to victory in Monday’s Yellow Ribbon Handicap at Del Mar. Martin Garcia was the jockey on Egg Drop. Blanc rode the second-place horse, Appealing.

Carmel newspaper: In the Sept. 3 Section A, the caption for a photo with a column about the Carmel Pine Cone newspaper said that Publisher Paul Miller runs the weekly from his home. The paper’s offices are in a converted house; Miller lives elsewhere.
