Rare Marilyn Monroe images recall a legend

Share

This Tuesday, Aug. 5 marks the 46th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death. On that date in 1962, the actress’ body was discovered by police officials in her Brentwood home.

A photography exhibition featuring some rare images of Monroe is currently on view at the Andrew Weiss Gallery in Beverly Hills. (The gallery recently extended the show’s run through Aug. 30.) This group exhibition features images taken by a variety of photographers, including Bert Stern, who shot for Vogue magazine.

Other photographers in the show include George Barris, Milton Greene and Kashio Aoki.

Some of the images in the exhibition depict Monroe in a nude or semi-nude state. The show is recommended for mature viewers only.
