Willowbrook, Whittier shooting victims identified

Four family members were killed Friday night in what authorities believe was a gang-related shooting on the backyard patio of a home in Willowbrook.

Brothers Luis Jimenez, 26, Angel Jimenez, 25, and Anthony Jimenez, 24, and their cousin Martin Haro, 25, died in the gunfire in the 2100 block of Bliss Street, according to a Los Angeles County coroner’s investigator who declined to be identified.

L.A. County sheriff’s officials said they were trying to locate two unidentified men who were seen driving away from the area in a black sport utility vehicle.

Authorities also identified two of three people who died in a shooting Friday in Whittier.

The bodies of Debra Escobedo, 60, and her husband, Raul Escobedo, 67, were found inside a house in the 16000 block of East Janine Drive, the coroner’s investigator said. The third body discovered in the house has not yet been identified, but the investigator said it may be the couple’s son.

The deaths apparently arose from a family dispute, said Sgt. Brent Anderson of the Whittier Police Department, but the details were still unclear.

“We just know that they were all in the same house with each other,” he said.

Anderson said police responded to a report that a woman had been shot about noon Friday. Officers surrounded the property for more than seven hours and locked down a nearby elementary school.

No shots were fired at police during the standoff, he said.
