Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Lake Isabella

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Wednesday evening two miles from Lake Isabella, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:34 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 34 miles from Oildale, Calif., 35 miles from Tehachapi, 36 miles from Bakersfield and 251 miles from Carson City.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
