Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Lone Pine

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Tuesday evening 29 miles from Lone Pine, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9 p.m. PST near the surface.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 39 miles from Porterville, California, 42 miles from Lindsay, California, 45 miles from Exeter, California and 216 miles from Carson City, Nevada.

In the past ten days, there have been six earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
